Oliver’s Place at Tori’s Wedding

Behind every piece of ashes jewellery I make, there is a person and a story. Tori trusted me with one that I will not forget.

Oliver Paul Saxon's tiny hands, photographed after he was born sleeping

Oliver Paul Saxon was born sleeping on 4 June 2024 at 24 weeks, after problems during Tori’s pregnancy. He weighed just 1lb 4oz.

After that devastating loss, Tori and her partner planned their wedding in Liverpool—the city where Oliver was born.

“I wanted to do something special for my husband-to-be and knew the cufflinks were the perfect idea.”
— Tori

Tori also ordered earrings for herself because she knew she could not be without Oliver on the day.

Keeping Oliver close on their wedding day

I made a pair of round cufflinks containing Oliver’s ashes for Tori’s husband, and a pair of round crystal earrings containing his ashes for Tori.

They were not hidden away for the day. Tori put her earrings in while getting ready. His cufflinks were fastened at the groom’s wrists and worn through the ceremony. Oliver was part of the preparations, the vows and the photographs.

Tori later told me:

“Couldn’t be more happy with the products. They were the perfect touch.”

The story behind Oliver’s ashes jewellery

An order form can tell me the colour, the finish and whether someone wants the ashes visible. It cannot tell me the whole story of the person whose ashes I have been entrusted with.

This is the part people do not always see. A pair of cufflinks may be how a father carries his son into his wedding. A pair of earrings may mean a mother does not have to face that day without him.

Oliver could not be at their wedding in the way he should have been. But he was there in the pieces they wore, and he remains part of their family’s story.

Thank you, Tori, for trusting me to make them—and for allowing Oliver’s name and story to be shared.
